Karen's Story

Artist Statement

As an artist, I find beauty in unexpected places, particularly in the repurposed materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. One of my favorite materials to work with is CD discs, which I transform into unique and captivating works of art. I take great pleasure in knowing that these pieces bring joy to others, especially when they discover that they're made from something as ordinary as a CD disc.

When asked what my art represents, I like to think that it can mean different things to different people. For me, it's about finding beauty in unexpected places and improving my craft with each creation. For others, it might be about the importance of repurposing and reducing waste. Whatever the interpretation, I hope that my art inspires others to look at the world with a creative and open-minded perspective.

Much of my art is inspired by the ocean and its vast and beautiful expanse. The colors and movement of water, as well as the creatures that inhabit it, are a constant source of fascination and inspiration for me. Though I may explore different themes in the future, for now, I am drawn to the blues and greens of the ocean, and the magic of sea life. In every piece I create, I aim to capture the essence and energy of the ocean and to create something truly special and meaningful.
